Baptism is from a Greek word meaning ‘plunge’ and is an outward sign of something that goes on in the heart when someone believes in Jesus and turns to follow Him.
Being ‘plunged’ or washed in the water stands for dying to your old life and coming out of the water stands for rising to new life with Jesus, forgiven and filled with His Spirit!
Some people call this ‘Christening’ (being put ‘in Christ’) and it’s the same thing.
Baptism can be for both an adult or for the children of adult believers.
