...those made holy in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people...

MADE HOLY?

Holy doesn’t mean kneeling on a hard floor, chanting and going without food; it means being set apart like God in all His creativity, strength and beauty.

Me? Made holy like God?

Because Jesus paid the price to wash us clean and offers his perfect life in our place, God declares us holy like Him. It’s God’s free gift to us (grace) and all we need to do is accept it (faith).

called to be holy?

So - we can stand with Jesus before our Father God - holy in his sight!

If that’s our standing, then we are now called to live up to it.

But have you tried loving God with all your heart and loving your neighbour as yourself. For us, it’s impossible. But to all who put their trust in him, Jesus gives his own Holy Spirit:

“I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees.”

Ezekiel 36:27

A new power within that slowly but surely fights against our selfishness and helps us match up to our new standing as God’s holy people. So,

“let us keep in step with the Spirit.”

Galatians 5:25
